Ready2Mesh Tools (RM)
Cleaning up the surface geometry can be a time consuming task before you can start Meshing – for Finite Element Model. This time increases drastically for large model files like vehicle BIW, Large welded structures, Ships, etc. Traditionally this activity could take days or weeks. With Ready2Mesh, you can reduce this up to 1/10th of that time.
Ready2Mesh product offers a wide range of surface dressing and geometry cleaning functionalities for surface models. It consists of several small functionalities, which simplify and accelerate the dressing of surface models for cross-linking and for meshing for Finite Element Analysis.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
RM-MANAGE (MANAGE JOINTS): It manages the existing joint surface bodies in the model. It colors or explodes joints based on certain user specified attributes like color or cell dimension. The exploded joints can be appended in the specification tree depending upon the option specified by the user. By default it is appended at current position. |
 |
RM-BREAK (BREAK FACES): It collects all face specific data and computes intersection between intersecting faces. Faces are split at intersecting curves within the user specified criteria. The split is extrapolated in tangential direction if automatic extrapolation option is checked by the user.
 |
RM-MERGE (REMERGE FACES): It tries to remerge the generated sub faces from the RM-BREAK option, depending upon the criteria that the intersection curve is not shared by any splitting face. This process depends on the previous process (RM-BREAK) and cannot be run in a standalone mode.
RM-MERGE only runs on the faces which are being modified by the RM-BREAK operation. |
ANALYSE FACES: It analysis the faces depending upon the user specified criteria. The analyses of faces are done based on the following criterion:
- Square root of (Area)/ Circum. ratio
- Length / Breadth ratio for the face
- Angle between corresponding edges of the face
- Area of the face
The analyzed faces are appended depending upon the “Append Results At” option at Current position, New Geometric Set or at Now-Show.
RM-SEW: It breaks face boundaries at explicit points or at locations where two face boundaries overlap. All accessible faces are processed.
Break points :
There are two ways to determine break points, where RM-SEW will break the face boundaries:
- Curve ends: To break at the curves ends is more or less the minimum condition, because in a closed volume there cannot be a curve end on the interior of another boundary curve.
- Explicit points: You can also create points to use them as break points. But be careful: if you switch on the option POINTS, you will use every accessible 3D point as a possible break point.
COLBND: It collects all face boundary curves and determines according to the tolerance given by RM-SEW, whether a curve is a boundary curve with more than one face. COLBND checks the topological links, but it also compares each boundary curves to other boundary curves. |
 |
Depending on, whether a curve limits only one face, or two, three or more faces, it will be given a new colour. Duplicate curves will be hidden and not processed.
